The South Bay Bird Society is pleased to introduce the Miser family; a family with the big heart and a great love. For over 40 years, Frank, Martha, Frank Jr., and many others in their family have dedicated their lives to the avian community.
In 1955, Frank worked full-time as a switchman for the Santa Fe Railroad, raising parakeets as a hobby. He decided his work was interfering with his hobby so he left his secure job and went into the bird business. What was one a 2 1/2 acre chicken ranch on the corner of Magnolia and Cerritos avenues in Anaheim became the Magnolia Bird Farm. Frank's hobby developed into a business that today employs 40 people at two locations. In 1990, he built a second store in Riverside with 10,000 square feet of retail space, a nursery, and a seed warehouse. The Riverside location is run by Frank Jr. and several other family members. You can always find Frank Sr. at the original Anaheim store.
The Magnolia goal is to educate and inform the public about proper bird care and to see that each customer leaves the store with the right bird for their particular lifestyle. The knowledgeable, friendly folks at Magnolia are always available to answer questions: to give help with selecting the right bird, cage, and accessories; and they do wing and nail clipping at no charge. They also offer boarding in a clean and secure room at very affordable prices.
To Frank, Martha, and the family, on behalf of all the avian organizations you've so generously supported, we thank you for sharing with us your many years of knowledge and experience and for your unlimited generosity and support. We're proud of your accomplishments and wish you at least another 40 years of continued success.
